1. Go to About this mac under the apple icon in the upper left.
2. Click on system report
3. make a note of what it says after Model Identifier
4. go to your master drive – System -Library – Extensions – IOPlatformPluginFamily.kext -Contents – Plugins – ACPI_SMC_PlatformPlugin.kext – Contents – Resources – find the name from step 3 and move it to a folder that you can find again if needed.
3. Restart and you’re done

If you are running on Mac OS X El Capitan and above, you might have problem to delete the plist file, this is because Apple introduced System Integrity Protection (rootless) mode as a security feature in OS X El Capitan. It prevents you (and programs) from changing root-level files even with your password. The protected directories are: /System, /bin, /sbin, /usr (but not /usr/local). The symbolic links from /etc, /tmp, and /var to /private/etc, /private/tmp, and /private/varare also protected, although the target directories are not themselves protected. Most preinstalled Apple applications in /Applications are also protected. please refer to here How to turn off Rootless (SIP, or System Integrity Protection) in OS X

If you have problem to find the plist file under ACPI_SMC_PlatformPlugin.kext, try to locate in this directory X86PlatformPlugin.kext

System -Library – Extensions – IOPlatformPluginFamily.kext -Contents – Plugins –X86PlatformPlugin.kext - Contents - Resources

You have to identify Your laptop. This is all I found on other forums:
